Sysco Boston LLC is the New England subsidiary of Sysco, a national foodservice company with headquarters in Houston, Texas. Sysco selected a site in Plympton, MA to construct a state of the art 630,000 sq ft distribution and warehouse facility. The wastewater demand for this new facility was expected to be 25,000 gallons-per-day. CTS Builders was engaged as the design-build-operator to provide a turn-key wastewater treatment facility for the project.
Sysco had teamed with another Engineering Firm prior to CTS Builders’ involvement who had prepared a preliminary design and had started the permitting process through DEP. CTS reviewed the membrane bioreactor treatment approach being proposed and offered an alternative treatment technology (Amphidrome) and facility design/construction approach for Sysco’s consideration. Ultimately, our approach was selected by Sysco which accommodated a smaller facility footprint, greatly reduced capital and operation costs and helped streamline the construction scheduling, which was a critical factor in Sysco’s development approach.
